State Fair of Texas/Cotton Bowl. The State Fair of Texas – September 28 to October 21, 2007 – at Fair Park in Dallas is one of the most exciting events in Texas. The Fair features top–notch musical entertainment, food pavilions, a livestock competition, a massive auto show, a creative arts competition, pig races, the Starlight Parade, the IKEA Celebrity Kitchen, a BMX Bike Stunt Show, scores of exhibition booths, and plenty of family fun. A neon playground, the Fair's Midway features over 70 exciting rides, games, shows, souvenirs, food–on–a–stick, x–treme experiences, the 212–foot Texas Star Ferris wheel and 1914 Dentzel carousel. The 76,000–seat Cotton Bowl will host Grambling State vs. Prairie View A&M on Sept. 29, and Texas vs. Oklahoma on Oct. 6. Tickets to Cotton Bowl football games include State Fair admission. Taste of DallasTaste of Dallas. In early July, 375,000 people will converge on the historic streets of the West End District to visit Dallas’ largest free outdoor festival. Celebrating 21 years of “Rockin’ Your Tastebuds,” the 2007 Taste of Dallas is a 3–day festival, spanning 10 blocks, featuring entertainment, music, food, art, jewelry, crafts and interactive family activities. At the Gourmet Pavilion, local celebrity chefs demonstrate their culinary expertise and serve gourmet cuisine. Taste will also feature fare from 35 of Dallas’ top restaurants. Hear musical performances from 40 diverse bands on the Miller Main Stage, the Oasis Jazz Stage and the Market Street Stage. Purchase jewelry, arts and crafts, gourmet food, and novelty items from over 20 retailers. Dallas Convention Center. At over one million square feet, the newly–expanded Dallas Convention Center is Texas’ premier event and meeting facility. The Convention Center features a staggering 726,726 square feet of prime, contiguous exhibit space along with a 203,000–square–foot column–free exhibit hall – the largest in the US. The Dallas Convention Center also offers the 9,816–seat Reunion Arena, a theater with a 1,740–person capacity, 105 versatile meeting rooms, two gigantic ballrooms, and the world's largest vertiport.
