North Texas Golf Center. Home of the Golf Institute Golf School, North Texas Golf Center is the finest golf practice facility in Dallas, where you can learn, practice and play after dark under the lights. The Center features a lighted 9–hole, par 3 golf course, a 52–space lighted driving range with 8 large target greens, a pro shop with club repair, and an extensive short game area, with a 5000 sq. ft. tiff dwarf putting green, an exclusive bunker practice green with 2 greenside sand bunkers, and a chipping green with grass bunkers and berms. Located in the floodplains of the Trinity River just west of I–35, this 18–hole municipal Dallas course has water hazards on the front nine, and many trees that can alter your shots on the back nine. Redesigned in 1982, the par72 course plays to 6,705 yards from the longest tees, features elevated Burmuda greens and tree–lined fairways, a stocked pro shop, a nice–sized putting green and green fees under $20. With 11 lakes, ponds and creeks, all four par 3s require a carry over water. Brook Hollow Golf Club. Founded in 1920, this traditional par 71 private course challenges golfers with small greens, undulating terrain and narrow, tree–lined fairways. The signature hole is #6, a 404–yard, par 4, requiring a downhill approach shot from off an elevated fairway. Just 20 minutes from either downtown Dallas or Dallas–Ft. Worth Airport, Coyote Ridge offers a front nine and a back nine in opposite topographical surroundings. The front is hilly, open, and dotted with water and bunkers, the back cuts sharply through an old gravel quarry turned garden, intersected twice by Coyote Creek. Keeton Park Golf Course. This popular David Bennett designed Dallas track sees lots of play, but is still considered one Dallas' top courses. Water comes into play on 15 holes and the 18-hole course has a tendency to play narrowly. Stevens Park Golf Course. The oldest metropolitan course in the Dallas–Ft. Worth area, Stevens Park opened its links in 1922. The course is surrounded by some of Dallas' exclusive neighborhoods, and offers views of the downtown skyline. This Dallas golf course plays to just a hair over 6,000 yards, but presents it's fair share of challenges to even the lowest handicapper in the group. Tangleridge Golf Club. Opened in 1995, this beautiful par–72 Dallas course plays to 6,835 yards. The layout works with the hilly country and water comes prominently into play. Perennially ranked among the top 20 public courses in Texas, Tangleridge Golf Club is about 30 minutes outside of the Dallas–Ft. Worth area. Texas Star Golf Course. The highest rated golf course in the Dallas–Ft. Worth area, this Dallas area golf course received a Golf Digest four–star 'places to play' rating in addition to being among Texas’ top ten golf courses. The par–71, 7,001 yard course is built around Hurricane Creek and features native flora and fauna unique to the region. Opened in 1997, the course is in immaculate condition. Chester W. Ditto Golf Course. Located in North Arlington, Chester W. Ditto Golf Course is one of the most sought after courses in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. This challenging 18–hole, par 72 course offers plush tiff fairways narrowed by trees and accented with white sand bunkers and ponds. The 164–acre public facility offers a driving range, a putting green, a chipping area, and a clubhouse with a stocked pro shop and food and beverage concessions. C.W.
